Competition Win for Xiomeisha Coastal Zone
Winning the Competition for Xiaomeisha Coastal Zone, situated in close proximity to Shenzhen, the Jury has complimented the comprehensiveness of our design. Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl has been the lead open space planner for Xiaomeisha Coastal Zone Competition.
We are delighted that our consortium formed by MLA+ B.V.+Colliers International (Hong Kong) Limited+RAMBOLL STUDIO DREISEITL has won the competition for the design of Xiaomeisha Coastal Zone in Shenzhen, China.
The re-planning of Xiaomeisha Coastal Zone had been brought forth after a taifun tragically destroyed most of the built infrastructure in 2018. Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl, therefore designed the resilient coastal scape, which represents eco-safety & nature-based solutions, addressing environmental issues and protecting from possible future disasters. This design enhances the natural environment as a bidirectional balance between nature and human beings, thus creating a competitive advantage for the future success of Xiaomeisha.
Xiaomeisha is a beautiful quiet bay area adjacent to the busy city of Shenzhen, sitting between lush forested mountains and the waters of Mirs Bay. Looking to strengthen the gentle and romantic side of the otherwise highly efficient Shenzhen Spirit, our design concedes a place for leisure, where tired minds can rest and be revitalized in an environment which connects mountains, people and the sea.
This joint development of mountains, city, and sea, designed as a delicately intertwined mountain-sea pattern, forms the ecological basis and strength of future Xiaomeisha. It will be a resilient place that can cope with environmental issues. The bayfront promenade with integrated coastal ecological protection measures, enlivens the waterfront. The local environment will be revitalized and activated on one hand through the design of three ecological corridors connecting the mountains with the sea, ensuring continuous habitat evolution. Furthermore, the cooperation with Yantian carbon coins, supports residents to reconnect to nature, motivating them to contribute to environmental protection. This public engagement, forms a great relationship with the community, enhances environmental awareness, and organically develops Xiaomeisha.
