Transforming Stavanger Station to boost rail capacity and urban growth

The project's main objective is to increase the capacity for train traffic to and from Stavanger Station. This will enable 10-minute intervals for local trains between Stavanger and Skeiane, hourly frequency for long-distance trains, and the operation of 220-meter-long trains on the route. The project represents a key step in strengthening the station’s role as a modern mobility hub and supporting sustainable urban development in the Stavanger region.

The redevelopment will include a complete transformation of the station area, designed to provide better connections between rail, public transport, cycling, and walking, while at the same time enhancing the quality of the urban environment. The project aims to deliver a station area that not only meets future mobility needs but also becomes a more attractive and integrated part of the city.

Planning work will commence in 2025. The regulatory plan is scheduled to be submitted in 2027 and is expected to be approved in 2028, paving the way for implementation of the redevelopment.
