Ramboll helps chart a resilient future for Europe’s agri-food system

In this recent partnership, Ramboll provided technical support for the ESABCC’s assessment on the climate risks affecting the EU agri-food system. The assessment identified practical pathways to improve resilience, accelerate emissions reductions, and support long-term transformation across the sector. It also outlined how Europe can respond through coordinated action across farming practices, land use, supply chains, and customer behaviour.

The climate risks include droughts, floods, heatwaves, and pests and diseases, all of which impact productivity, farm incomes, and rural livelihoods.

Karin Attström, policy expert in climate resilience and mitigation, Ramboll, led the team providing technical support to ESABCC report. Attström says: “The next EU budget and climate-policy decisions will shape the agri-food system for the next decade. Delaying action would raise costs, increase climate vulnerability and make the transition harder.”
