Data Centres and the Future of Energy Resilience
When: Wednesday June 24, 08.30 - 11.00 AM
Where: The Royal Institution
Hosts: Ramboll and CiP
About: Data centres are at the heart of rapidly growing demand for data storage and processing, driven by AI, cloud services, and the broader digitalisation of the economy, placing increasing pressure on energy systems and power grids worldwide. Multi-year grid connection delays are driving data centre operators to build their own private energy systems and microgrids, whilst the regulatory framework around critical national infrastructure has not kept pace.
This session brings together senior leaders from the data centre sector, energy industry, policy and investment side examine how to build future-ready grid solutions that can meet the sector's needs, attract investment at scale and keep the wider energy system moving toward net zero.
Registration: By Invitation only

Light rail & urban regeneration: How light rail can transform UK cities
When: Wednesday June 24, 16.00 - 19.00
Where: The Royal Institution
About: Across the UK, city leaders are under growing pressure to deliver economic growth, unlock housing, decarbonise transport and create more resilient urban environments - all within constrained financial and political conditions. Light rail is increasingly being recognised not simply as a transport intervention, but as a catalyst for regeneration, investment, placemaking and long-term city transformation.
This panel discussion will bring together senior leaders from across transport, planning, development and infrastructure to explore how light rail can help reshape UK towns and cities, unlock growth corridors, support housing delivery and create healthier, more connected communities. The session is being developed in collaboration with Urban Transport Group and will feature senior representatives from major UK transport authorities and city-region leaders.
Registration: By invitation only
