Confirmed speakers include Christian Jensby, CEO of Ramboll, who will open the session, followed by an introduction to the report from Signe Kongebro, Global Director of Future Resilient Design at Ramboll, and Helene Chartier, Director of Urban Planning and Design at C40 Cities. The panel discussion brings together Heather T. Clark, Senior Fellow and former White House Senior Director for Building Sector Climate Policy, and Thure Krarup, Head of Global Public Affairs and Policy at Urban Partners.

As part of New York Climate Week, the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University SIPA’s Women in Energy initiative and Pillsbury are bringing together leaders from across industry to discuss the innovations transforming how we power, build, and sustain our world. The evening will feature two engaging panel discussions.

The first will explore the technologies and policy developments driving the climate tech landscape from advanced nuclear and semiconductors to AI, digital infrastructure, and corporate sustainability. The second panel will focus on careers in climate tech, highlighting workforce trends, the skills organizations are seeking, and practical pathways for students and professionals looking to enter or advance in the field. Cheryl Ginyard-Jones, Managing Director for Ramboll in the Americas, will be a panelist speaking at the event.

High-Level Roundtable: Powering AI and cloud growth without overburdening communities

About: Data centres are becoming one of the defining infrastructure questions of the AI economy. They power cloud computing, financial services, healthcare, government operations, and everyday digital life, but they also place new demands on power grids, water systems, land use, permitting processes, and local communities.

Hosted by Ramboll, Urban Land Institute, and the Consulate General of Denmark in New York during Climate Week NYC, this roundtable gathers leaders from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss how and where data centres can grow responsibly, while addressing pressures on local systems and even deliver tangible benefits to the communities that host them.

About: This roundtable hosted by Ramboll and NYU's Center for Global Affairs, it brings together leaders from academia, NGOs, city government, industry, and philanthropy to explore how climate resilience and urban liveability can reinforce one another. Through a facilitated cross-sector dialogue, participants will identify opportunities for collaboration and action, while NYU students gain direct exposure to real-world resilience challenges that will inform their capstone work. Insights from the discussion will also contribute to the ongoing NYU-Ramboll partnership and a co-authored thought leadership article

Designing Climate-Ready New York: Integrated Solutions for Heat and Flood Resilience

About: As climate change intensifies, New York faces increasing risks from both extreme heat and flooding. While these challenges are often addressed separately, they are deeply interconnected, shaping how neighborhoods function, how infrastructure performs, and how communities experience climate impacts.

This workshop hosted by Ramboll, C40 Cities, UNEP and the City of New York, will bring together city leaders, planners, technical experts, community organizations, and resilience practitioners to explore how heat and flood resilience can be considered together in planning and investment decisions. Drawing on New York case studies, international examples, and interactive discussion, participants will examine how integrated climate-risk analysis, and emerging planning tools can help identify interventions that deliver multiple benefits across resilience, public space, and community wellbeing.
