Gartnerløkka, Kristiansand's urban node
The 1.4 km-long redevelopment of the existing E18/E39 highway crossing replaces outdated bridges and roads with a modern, multi-modal transport corridor that prioritises pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport, whilst integrating seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

Connecting to nature

"The E18/E39 Gartnerløkka-Kolsdalen redevelopment is designed as a regional junction: it links surrounding towns and logistics flows directly into Kristiansand—our major urban hub—whilst integrating ferry and rail connections. The result is stronger mobility across the region and a safer, multimodal city interface."
Connecting the West Coast via Kristiansand
E39 is Norway’s busiest road running through the west coast whilst E18 extends the route to Sweden through Oslo. The Gartnerl\u00F8kke project improves this busy connection, creating a faster, safer, and more efficient route. It adds active mobility, eases freight and commuter flow, and builds a modern, sustainable, multimodal transport network ready for the future.
