In 2022 I was shortlisted in the Apprentice of the year ACE Award category and today I run my own projects as the Civil Engineering lead.

Ramboll apprentice Conor O’Loughlin

After high school, I attended university full-time but withdrew due to personal circumstances. In 2016, I joined Ramboll as a trainee technician without any engineering or design experience. I doubted my ability to pursue an engineering degree further but in 2018 I was offered an apprenticeship in Civil Engineering at LJMU.

I have now completed my degree with first-class honours in 2022. I received support from colleagues throughout, allowing me to focus on studies during deadlines and exams. The apprenticeship format allowed for the knowledge gained at Ramboll to compliment my studies and vice-versa.

In 2022 I was shortlisted in the Apprentice of the year ACE Award category and today I run my own projects as the Civil Engineering lead, working with clients, developing designs and assisting new graduates and apprentices with their development. I could not have done this without the support that I have received from Ramboll.
