Expert Reviewer of the Shatin to Central Link
Serving over 1 million daily commuters, this prestigious railway project not only improves public transport efficiency but also brings substantial social and economic benefits to one of the world’s most dynamic cities.
The centrepiece of this project includes the construction of a 1.7-kilometre immersed tunnel beneath Victoria Harbour. The tunnel is designed to carry two metro tracks and is located parallel to the existing cross-harbour tunnel.
Ramboll undertook a pivotal role as Independent Geotechnical Expert Advisor or the ‘Expert Reviewer’ for the immersed tunnel of the North South Line of Hong Kong. Ramboll contributed with the global immersed tunnel expertise that spanned the reference design, preliminary and detailed design of the permanent tunnel works, and comprehensive site audits.
