Mandai Nature Safari Park
Mandai Nature Safari is situated north of the heart of Singapore Island, at the Upper Seletar Reservoir. The project covers the entire Mandai Nature Safari Area which will include a new wildlife and nature attraction. A critical strategy involves a seamless integration of the surrounding Nature reserve through the creation of eco-corridors, wildlife bridges, and habitat enhancement. This proposal is a multi-generation endeavor that will bring together urban planning, ecology, and technology expertise to build on and conserve Singapore’s nature heritage. The new Mandai will be a haven for Singaporeans and visitors, young and old, to enjoy nature in a fun and inspiring way.
The new Mandai nature precinct is designed to be in harmony with nature. For example, animals living in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve will benefit from an eco-bridge spanning the breadth of Mandai Lake Road as they move between the central and northern reaches of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Over at the Rainforest Park, a vertical stratification of experiences will enable visitors to appreciate the sights and sounds of the Southeast Asian Rainforest across multiple tiers – from a cavern below ground, on boardwalks at ground level, and up ramps to aerial walkways that will go as high as the top of the tree canopy. For the more rugged at heart, trekking and adventure activities will literally ‘heighten’ the experience amidst rich foliage.
Expanding beyond its existing offerings to be home to two new wildlife parks, an indoor nature-themed education centre, eco-sensitive accommodation options, and inviting public spaces that will be freely accessible to the public, a focus will be on wildlife conservation and education and will allow Singaporeans to enjoy what nature has to offer.
