BRAC university, Bangladesh

A sustainable inner-city campus and public park

Measuring 950,000 sqft, the BRAC University campus in Dhaka features a 13-storey building of green walls and giant photovoltaic roof canopy. Its landscaped Campus Park includes a bio-retention pond that treats polluted stormwater runoff and is surrounded by native plants.

Beside the main Academia zone building, Ramboll helped develop civil and structural solutions for an auditorium, a multifunctional hall and a public gallery at the building’s base which acts at as a communal nucleus for the university’s 10,000+ students and surrounding community. A unique top-down construction of basement diaphragm walls was used on this project, a first for Bangladesh.
