A holistic data-driven evaluation of liveability, accessibility and resilience to create action plans for inclusive and sustainable neighbourhoods.
Our vision is that everyone can live well locally, accessing their daily needs in a sustainable way, day-to-day and during an extreme climate event.
We help realise this vision through undertaking a holistic assessment and then collaboratively creating a strategy for positive change.
The Living Well Locally Assessment by Ramboll evaluates existing and proposed neighbourhoods for liveability and climate resilience. The assessment is aligned with the internationally recognised Place Standard tool, or can be made bespoke to a client's requirements. It undertakes a precise assessment of walking and cycling access to essential facilities and services necessary for a good quality of life, including health services, public transport routes, community facilities, and green spaces. The assessment also evaluates the quality of these facilities, both day-to-day and during extreme weather events, providing a deep understanding of places and their climate resilience.
A Living Well Locally Strategy identifies the gaps preventing an existing neighbourhood or future neighbourhood from functioning sustainably and resiliently and suggests ways to improve. It highlights gaps in provision, quality, and preparedness and can inform strategies for changes to existing plans, to design new places, and to track implementation over time.

Collect and format masterplan or local plan data, including pedestrian networks, residential unit numbers, and social infrastructure, and input them into the model

Evaluate the existing and planned settlements against the assessment criteria, considering the surrounding context

Provide recommendations for both infrastructural and policy measures to improve liveability and resilience

Living Well Locally Strategy
Co-create with cities, neighbourhoods and master planning teams a strategy for change that improves local outcomes. This can be aligned to a policy mechanism such as a Place Plan, Placemaking Framework or SPD.
