Enabling green energy transition through supporting the advancements of the wind sector
Meet Patrick Architta, Head of Department, Wind, who joined Ramboll from K2M after the acquisition. Patrick manages business development for Wind in Asia Pacific. His vast experience in leading offshore and onshore wind projects helps our clients in their journey towards green energy transition.
Q: Could you tell us about yourself and your role?
PA: With 28 years of international experience, I’ve held leadership roles in both the renewable energy and automotive sectors, managing a broad range of general management responsibilities. In my previous role as President APAC of K2 Management, I’ve spent ten years in Asia leading offshore and onshore wind, as well as solar projects, covering all phases from development to construction and technical advisory while also serving as Vice President of the board of Thai Wind Energy Association (ThaiWEA).
I’ve also managed wind projects in Southern Europe and South America during my time with Vestas, and oversee engineering and factory construction projects across the Americas when I was working for Michelin.
At Ramboll, I manage the development of the wind business in APAC. This includes all services related to wind across every stage of a project. To support our growth ambitions, this development also encompasses hybrid projects, including solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and environmental support.
Q: What motivated you to develop a career in renewable energy?
PA: I began my journey in the wind industry nearly 20 years ago with one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers. After a decade in the structured environment of the automotive sector, I was attracted by the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation surrounding alternative energy. That same sense of excitement continues to drive me today, as we expand and accelerate the development of renewable energy across the APAC region.
" Super happy to be part of the team. Our collaboration in APAC is a perfect match—built on shared values, complementary strengths, mutual respect and premium services. We are learning, growing, and expanding together. The positive client feedback confirms our optimism for a successful and sustainable future. We must place a strong focus on becoming more agile and leveraging cross-departmental synergies to drive both growth and profitability."
Q: What achievement in your career are you personally most proud of?
PA: I led the design and construction of a large-scale production facility in southern Brazil, starting from a greenfield site. After three years, we built and ramped up operations to a workforce of 3,000 employees. The human experience remains one of the highlights of my career.
Q: What trends do you think will most significantly shape the renewable energy sector in Asia Pacific over the next 5 years? What are the most significant opportunities and challenges for our clients in the region?
PA: The demand for renewable energy in APAC is set to grow across both developing nations and more mature markets. However, the region's main challenge lies in the timing and pace of development, which are heavily influenced by local political dynamics and the vast diversity of market conditions. While the overall regional growth will be steady, activity at the country level will fluctuate.
For engineering and consulting firms, managing this level of uncertainty is complex. Our ability to remain agile—adapting quickly to shifting priorities and timelines—will be critical to maintaining profitability and long-term success in the region.
Q: How do you see the combined expertise from Ramboll and K2M help our clients in capturing the opportunities, and overcoming the challenges?
PA: It is a perfect match in the APAC region. Client feedback has been very positive, highlighting the strong complementarity between our organisations—not only in the services we offer but also in our geographic presence.
We share common values, particularly around ethics, respect for people, and a commitment to delivering premium-quality services. This alignment forms a solid foundation for a successful and long-lasting collaboration.
Q: What opportunities do you see for yourself and colleagues, now being part of Ramboll?
PA: We have felt truly welcomed by our Ramboll colleagues. The integration—both commercially and on a personal level—has been progressing very well. There are clear opportunities for employees from both companies.
Through the complementarity of our services, we are now able to learn from one another, expand into new geographies, and engage with a broader client base. Sharing best practices can only support the positive development of both individuals and the organisation.
I am very optimistic about our medium-term results and the value our combined business will continue to deliver to our clients and colleagues going forward.
