Your new role
Ramboll is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to join its collaborative team in Spain. This individual will serve a key function providing the review of technical reports, specifications, plans, designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner cross-functionally on premier land development projects.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Preparing and checking engineering designs, technical documents, and calculations, and supervising the production of design documents for issue to the Client.
- Organising and coordinating projects from Site Investigation and design feasibility to detailed design, including ground investigation site supervision where required.
- Ensuring that designs, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current design Standards, Codes of Practice, and best practice.
- Processing geotechnical data for ground interpretation, geotechnical assessment and report preparation.
- Undertaking a wide range of geotechnical design work (e.g. excavations, retaining structures, earthworks, soil improvement/reinforcement, foundations, stability and settlement analysis…), fully compliant with Eurocodes and specific local annexes.
- Development of project controls and monitoring of progress against programmes.
- Coordinating the work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers when required.
- Development and technical assurance of design, including client’s presentations and reports.
- Project administration reporting to Line Management including monitoring programme delivery, resources, and budgets.
- Assisting in the preparation of expressions of interest, proposals and tenders, including cost estimates.
- Maximising business development opportunities where possible.
- Working in relationship with other geographies.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology required, Master's degree strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of related geotechnical experience in geotechnical investigations, reporting, design and construction inspections.
- Experience working in a design environment (some site experience as well is preferred).
- Advanced numerical modelling skills using 2D Plaxis or similar preferred.
- A working knowledge of a range of geotechnical software, including Geo Studio suite (Slope/W, Seep/W) or similar.
- Good knowledge of statutory processes and technical standards, including Eurocodes.
- Significant experience in the civil engineering sector.
- International experience is valued.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
- Assuming responsibilities and proactiveness.
- Ability to learn new skills.
- Ability to coach less experienced team members and provide guidance and support.
- Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing for client meetings and job site visits.
