The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected Ramboll to provide commercialization support through DOE-funded vouchers. This initiative is part of the DOE Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) Voucher Program, conducted in collaboration with the Offices of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED), Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).
The DOE Voucher Program provides businesses, local governments, and other partners with access to expertise and technology commercialization support. It offers unique support for advancing emerging decarbonization technologies, helping innovators move beyond technical feasibility to real-world application.
Ramboll’s selection as one of eight companies for Voucher Opportunity 5 (VO-5), which focuses on key adoption challenges for emerging decarbonization and resource sustainability technologies, including:
- Carbon capture, transport, storage, and removal solutions
- Methane detection and reduction innovations
- Advanced remediation and mineral sustainability technologies
As an advisory company, Ramboll will provide technical due diligence services to evaluate and de-risk these technologies. This involves assessing technical feasibility, scalability, environmental impacts, and market readiness to accelerate the transition of innovative solutions from development to commercialization.
“Emerging decarbonization technologies face significant challenges in moving from development to deployment, and commercialization support like this is valuable. We are excited to partner with the DOE in advancing carbon management and resource sustainability solutions, aligning with our strategy to help clients transition to a sustainable future.”
Ramboll’s expertise extends beyond traditional technical evaluations to include advisory services that integrate commercialization strategy and implementation. By partnering with DOE through the Voucher program, Ramboll will help innovators navigate key barriers, ensuring technologies are not only technically sound but also viable for market adoption. Technology due diligence reports are vital for sharing emerging technology developers’ innovation and progress with potential investors and business partners as they scale.
“This partnership allows us to play a vital role in advancing innovative solutions that strengthen the foundations of a low-carbon economy,” Cheryl-Ginyard Jones adds. “By assisting carbon management innovators in scaling their solutions, we’re paving the way for measurable impacts in reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency, and building a more sustainable, climate-resilient future.”
