Managing Director, Americas

Over the last three years as Managing Director of the Americas one conclusion has become unmistakable: a people-first culture isn’t a nice-to-have – it’s a strategic advantage and a cultural commitment. It is how companies turn strategy into execution, sustain performance over time, and build a reputation that attracts clients and talent. In short: performance is the outcome; people are the engine.

In 11 short years, the Americas has become one of Ramboll’s largest and most profitable geographies. This milestone didn’t come from shortcuts or favorable market winds – it came from the expertise, grit, creativity, and purpose of our people. We solved hard problems, built trusted client relationships, integrated new capabilities, and kept raising the bar.

Looking at our progress at Ramboll, the business case for people-first is clear: when companies invest in the conditions where people can do their best work, growth follows.

“People first” doesn’t mean “people only.” Companies must grow, deliver, and compete. But businesses that prioritize results at the expense of the humans who produce them tend to win quarters and lose decades. A people-first culture mitigates execution risk, reduces burnout and turnover, and improves decision quality. It fuels innovation, strengthens collaboration, and builds the trust that makes teams resilient – especially in times of change. These are the drivers behind lower talent acquisition costs, faster time-to-competency, higher client satisfaction, and more reliable delivery.

So what does a people-first organization look like in practice?

At Ramboll, it’s understanding that people are the heart of our business and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to grow and thrive. It’s leaders who create clarity, remove barriers, and protect capacity, so teams deliver without sacrificing wellbeing. And teams that challenge ideas without diminishing people and direct feedback rooted in respect.

It’s a workplace grounded in decency and professionalism, with awareness of the world around us. And investment in development at all levels – because capability-building is both a retention strategy and a performance strategy.

It’s inclusion beyond statements by actively widening who is heard, sponsored, mentored, and seen as “ready.”

At Ramboll, being a people‑first organization is intentional. We know we don’t always get it right. We make mistakes, we learn, and we grow. We are on the journey – and we are unwavering in our commitment to moving forward.
