Ramboll acquires Envidan
By joining forces with the Nordic water and wastewater specialist, Ramboll will add 500 experts to its global water practice, bolstering the practice in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and add world-class expertise within water and wastewater treatment.

Ramboll will acquire Envidan from the European private equity firm Waterland and a group of minority shareholders. With this acquisition, Ramboll’s international technical consultancy services, including Ramboll’s water practice – covering climate adaptation, water infrastructure, water resources management, and water and wastewater treatment – will grow to more than 18,000 experts globally.
Envidan has offices in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and delivers highly regarded consultancy services and sustainable solutions across the entire water cycle. With its three core business areas – consulting, turnkey, and software – the company brings additional capabilities as a technology-driven engineering specialist. Together with its clients, the company is committed to enabling environmental impact across projects whether they relate to climate adaptation, water treatment and distribution or wastewater management.
“This is a very important acquisition for Ramboll as joining forces with Envidan will be truly transformational for our global water business unit, significantly boosting our competences in the Nordics. Across the world water has become a critical resource we must protect and carefully manage. Together, we will be able to offer a complete range of services addressing key market drivers such as climate change adaptation, aging infrastructure and new regulations on water quality and nature”, says Ramboll Group CEO Jens-Peter Saul and adds:
“We very much look forward to welcoming Envidan to Ramboll, creating a successful team together based on a strong cultural fit, driven by our shared focus on improving sustainability through integrated water and wastewater solutions.”
“Becoming part of Ramboll brings together two highly complementary organizations with strong values and a deep commitment to sustainability. Envidan has built a strong position within the entire water cycle, and together with Ramboll, we have a shared focus on professional excellence and sustainability for the benefit of our clients and society at large,” says Ole Adeler, CEO, Envidan A/S.
"After five years of ownership and a very constructive collaboration with Envidan’s management, we are proud to see the company enter its next phase of development. Together, we have helped transform Envidan from a predominantly Danish business into a leading Nordic water company through a focused buy & build strategy. This is a journey we are proud to have been part of, and we now look forward to following Envidan’s continued growth under Ramboll’s ownership,” states Nicklas Guldberg, Principal at Waterland Nordics.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
