Ramboll is seeking an experienced Air Quality Modeling professional for a Senior Project Manager
position. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with a proven track record of managing complex,
multi-faceted air quality modeling projects, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a trusted advisor to
clients and regulators alike.


Essential Duties


• Serve as technical lead and project manager on complex air quality dispersion modeling and
environmental impact assessment projects using regulatory guideline models such as AERMOD,
CALPUFF, and related tools.
• Ensure project delivery excellence by managing project scope, schedule, budget, and quality to
ensure on-time, on-budget delivery that meets or exceeds client expectations.
• Provide solutions to compliance challenges and senior-level QA/QC review and technical
oversight of modeling analyses, emission inventories, and permit applications prepared by
project teams.
• Act as client liaison, and support clients through the full project lifecycle, from pre-application
strategy through permit issuance and compliance.
• Lead regulatory interactions and serve as technical representative before national and state
environmental authorities on behalf of clients.
• Mentor and develop junior to mid-level staff; provide technical guidance, training, and career
development support.
• Contribute to business development through proposal writing, scope development, and strategic
client engagement.
• Work with leadership to integrate local teams into the global modeling practice.
• Lead special projects and initiatives as directed by senior leadership.


Required Skills and Experience


• Demonstrated project management ability, including scope, budget, schedule, and team
coordination across multiple simultaneous projects and evolving project requirements.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including technical report authorship and
presentations to clients and regulatory authorities.
• Deep expertise in regulatory air dispersion models, particularly AERMOD and CALPUFF, including
advanced configurations.
• Extensive experience in utilizing AERMOD for regulatory applications in accordance with USEPA
and/or US State/Regional Agency modeling guidelines.
• Strong working knowledge of national and state air quality regulatory
frameworks, regulatory processes, and emission standards for industrial sources.
• Proficiency with scientific programming tools such as Python, R, or shell scripting for data
processing, model automation, and analysis.
• Attention to detail and experience managing and processing large meteorological and emissions
datasets, including QA/QC, formatting, and statistical summarization.
• Proficiency with geospatial platforms such as ArcGIS, Surfer, or equivalent.
• Proven ability to build and sustain client and agency relationships.
• Strong mentoring instincts and demonstrated experience developing technical staff.
• Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Environmental or Chemical Engineering, or related
field required; ME/MTech or MS strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in air quality consulting, dispersion modeling, and
environmental permitting, including at least 3–4 years in a project management or lead
technical role.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications
• Experience with dense gas dispersion models (e.g., PHAST, SAFETI, ALOHA, or CAMEO) for toxic
or flammable release consequence modeling, or similar.
• Background in air quality monitoring or industrial source characterization including stack testing,
fugitive emissions estimation, or process engineering fundamentals.
• Experience working in Linux-based Cloud computing workflow
