Project Management Execution Capability

Shape How Project Managers Succeed in Practice

Do you want to improve how projects are executed in reality, not just how they are designed on paper? Are you motivated by translating best practice into tangible ways of working that project managers can actually use?

At Ramboll, we are strengthening how Project Managers succeed in practice. We are looking for a Capability Lead within Project Management Execution to join our Operational Excellence team in Operational Excellence.

In this role, you will take ownership of key behavioral Project Management capability areas such as stakeholder and communication management, and work closely with experienced Project Managers and business stakeholders to capture, structure, and scale effective ways of working in practice across Ramboll’s global project portfolio.

You will work at the intersection of project delivery, capability development, and AI-enabled ways of working, shaping practical approaches and ensuring they are embedded effectively in real project environments.

Your New Role

As part of the Operational Excellence function, you will own and develop selected execution-focused Project Management capabilities. You will ensure these are clear, practical, and consistently applied, supporting Project Managers in delivering strong commercial outcomes and effective client engagement.

You will collaborate closely with Process & Product Owners, OPEX leadership, and global business areas, contributing to a strong and consistent Project Management approach across Ramboll.

In this role, you will be part of an international team based in Copenhagen, collaborating with operations teams within our 7 Global Areas—Buildings, Transport, Energy, Environment & Health, Water, Architecture & Landscape, and Management Consulting across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific. • Capability Design & Products - Own and evolve practical capability products, including playbooks, tools, and learning assets that enable Project Managers to succeed in real project situations.

  • Project Manager Tiering Model - Shape and maintain the Project Manager tiering model, defining capability expectations aligned with project complexity and supporting its practical application.

  • Embedding in Project Execution - Translate capability frameworks into real project environments, supporting pilots, gathering feedback, and continuously improving how they are applied.

  • AI & Digital Enablement - Identify opportunities to improve Project Management execution through AI and digital tools, and define how these can be embedded in day-to-day workflows in collaboration with Tech stakeholders and OPEX Process & Product Owners.

  • Business Engagement & Insight Generation - Work closely with Project Managers and business stakeholders to understand how projects are executed in practice. Lead interviews, workshops, and feedback sessions to capture insights, identify what works, and translate this into scalable capability solutions.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Work with OPEX leadership, Process Owners, and global teams to ensure alignment, relevance, and adoption of capability areas.

Your Starting Point for Success

To thrive in this role, you should be:

  • A structured and pragmatic thinker who can turn complexity into simple, usable solutions
  • Curious about how projects actually run in practice, and motivated to improve them
  • Comfortable working through influence rather than authority
  • Focused on creating tangible outputs that are used in real work, not just concepts
  • Digitally curious, with an interest in AI-enabled ways of working
  • Strong in facilitation and structured problem solving, with the ability to run interviews, workshops, and dialogues that uncover practical insights from the business

What You Bring

  • A relevant degree in engineering, project management, business, or similar
