Claus Hindsgaul is an expert in energy and combustion systems. He has more than 18 years’ experience with Waste-to-Energy (WtE) projects and the integration of the complete energy system in WtE plants.
Claus holds a Ph.D. on biochar and biomass gasification from the Technical University of Denmark and has scientific and practical experience with gasification from 10 years of research in biomass gasification.
Over the years, Claus has been lead specialist in the energy system design of various new WtE facilities in Europe, Australia, Middle-East, and Asia. Claus has been involved in all project phases ranking from pre-feasibility studies to asset management. Additionally, Claus has been technical lead in numerous technical due diligences covering thermal gasification, pyrolysis, WtE, direct air capture, plastic recycling, and power storage systems across the world.
His expertise covers processing of alternative fuels such as sewage sludge and biomass, and alternative conversion technologies such as thermal gasification and pyrolysis as well as the production of advanced sustainable fuels. He has detailed knowledge in the area of plastic recycling by chemical recycling and mechanical recycling and carbon capture (CC).
In addition, Claus has expert knowledge of complex components such as turbines, heat pumps, flue gas condensation systems and combustion air humidification, and CC components.
Claus has an outgoing and positive personality, who communicates easily and naturally with various stakeholders and clients. Due to Claus’ broad knowledge, he is skilled at working both individually and with others in teams and in an interdisciplinary environment. Claus has developed a technical realistic sense which enables him to foretell technical complexity in a project. Claus has a curious approach to technologies and projects, and due to his extensive knowledge and experience, he is able to develop new innovative solutions.
