Hidetoshi Goto has over 15 years of professional experience in the field of biotech crops, including genetically modified organisms and genome editing. He has been responsible for the registration of several GM crops in Japan and has successfully conducted environment risk assessments for import-only approvals of GM soybeans.
Hidetoshi has been responsible for scientific outreach activities to streamline the regulatory process of GM crops, particularly in the area of environmental risk assessment. He collaborates closely with regulatory authorities, academia and industrial associations.
He has recently succeeded in exempting in-country field trials of GM crop for import approvals, which is one of the unique requirements in Japan.
Recent Focus
Hidetoshi has established a regulatory science department to assist agrochemical, chemical, and biotech companies in ensuring regulatory compliance in Japan. Hidetoshi and his team provide expert assistance to both local and global clients, helping them to successfully defend agrochemical products under the re-evaluation programme initiated in 2020 in Japan. In addition, Hidetoshi and his team provide regulatory compliance services for chemical products under CSCL, ISHL, Food sanitation law and Food safety basic law.
