  • Established Ramboll’s Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) practice through exposing due-diligence and sustainability practitioners within Ramboll to the voluntary transparency initiatives (ESG and CSR) in Mining. Strengthened Ramboll’s position through select recruitment to market ESG to clients in private equity, prior to the “ESG Boom”. ESG is now a global service line within Ramboll’s CST practice generating $1M+ annually in revenues.
  • Established Ramboll’s Global Industrial Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) practice by recognizing a new strategic market opportunity in the mining industry where Ramboll could grow as an independent reviewer/advisor under GISTM. Strengthened Ramboll’s position through select recruitment and by exposing existing geotechnical engineering practitioners within Ramboll to the new global standard and advising mining clients on how to come into conformance with the standard. Within the 1st two years, the GISTM practice has already generated $3M in revenue, with future projections on existing accounts in excess of another $3M+.
  • Circular Economy in Mining: Technical lead for the development and authoring of the “Tools for Circularity”. Working with the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), utilized a global multidisciplinary team consisting of individuals from Environment & Health (E&H) and Ramboll Management Consulting (RMC). Hosted both virtual and in-person workshops with mining companies, attended mine tours, conducted multiple virtual stakeholder interviews, and provided primary content development for the Tools for Circularity by combining cross-disciplinary technical strength of mining, circularity, resource management and sustainable development.
  • Subject Matter Expert advising the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) during development of sector specific European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), as mandated by the European Commission. The work is part of the multi-year exercise related to the implementation of Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD) Directives.
  • Engaged a tidal power developer to partner with Ramboll to develop tidal power for remote mining sites, which eventually lead to partnering with the developer on a US Department of Energy (USDOE) grant submission to develop foundations for tidal generating units (TGUs) in the East River of New York. The submittal was successful and resulted in nearly $1M USD in engineering fees to Ramboll. This project was the first U.S. commercially licensed tidal power project site and demonstrated the companies fifth-generation tidal turbines integrated with a TriFrame™ mounting system – the next step to profitable commercial operations around the world. In another world’s first, the tidal system’s performance was independently confirmed by Scotland’s European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) under the new International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) international standard.
