Securing smooth Hungarian roads

Ramboll’s special RST technology is used worldwide to measure the condition of roads and road markings.

Modern technology hits the pavement

Once infrastructure facilities such as roads, bridges, railways, ports and airports are in operation, they have to be constantly supervised and maintained. But keeping track of the state of facilities may be an enormous task when you are supposed to maintain thousands of square metres. So how do you keep track of the condition of numerous kilometres of road, or a huge airport or port area?

Jorf Lasfar

Ramboll’s detailed design for a major upgrade of Morocco’s Jorf Lasfar facilities is being implemented while the port remains operational.

Oxford Brookes Rain Pavilion

A semi-permanent urban forest sculpture designed by students with digital modelling expertise and civil and structural engineering supplied by Ramboll.

The Embankment

Set within a former railway station’s retained Grade II listed sandstone façade; Embankment consists of a 10 storey office sat atop a three-level car park podium. A future phase will add a second nine storey building upon the podium.

Super Bike Paths increase capacity and flow

In Copenhagen, one of the world’s leading cities for cycling, congestion is not confined to the road system. A range of new Super Bike Path solutions includes green waves, fast lanes and virtual traffic islands to increase capacity and flow on bike paths.

Bicycle paths in Copenhagen

The project is part of the Copenhagen Bicycle Policy, which aims at improving conditions for cyclists in city centre. Ramboll is involved in the planning and establishment of new bicycle paths in and around the historical urban core. The project is executed with a special focus on the integration of bicycle traffic with the historical city centre and the urban environment.

Refurbishment of operational runways

Using effective planning and innovative technology to complete refurbishment work on operational runways.

Doha Marina Mall, Qatar

Provision of engineering services for retail and leisure facility. Marina Mall is a 180,000sqm retail and leisure facility in the Lusail development on the east coast of Qatar. The mall includes over 70,000sqm leasable retail over three main levels, as well as a hypermarket within the basement. It will also house cinemas, family entertainment centre, restaurants with terraces overlooking the marina and spa facilities. The design is inspired by natural forms created when water and land meet. Five interconnected retail ‘islands’ link the mall to a body of water that runs through the centre of the scheme. Water guides the visitor through the mall, leading to and from the marina, while internal waterfalls connect the different levels. Spaces between the five pebble-shaped islands will be landscaped. The project is aiming for 5 stars under QSAS, Qatar’s sustainability rating tool. To integrate all engineering services precisely within the structure, BIM was embraced by the Project Team to deliver a 3D solution using REVIT. This provided the client with a powerful design, collaboration and management tool to ensure the optimal design is achieved during the design process through construction drawings and maintained post completion and into occupancy.
