Ramboll celebrates four award wins and two highly commended entries at the Consultancy and Engineering Awards
The team also secured two highly commended awards for Best Sustainability Project and Emerging Professional of the Year, for senior geotechnical engineer, Alex Craddock.
The Consultancy and Engineering Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of our industry and champion the best people, projects and companies from the world of engineering, consultancy and the built environment.
Ramboll was shortlisted in six categories this year as the result of incredible work being undertaken across the business including through our employee networks, sustainability initiatives, project delivery and commitment to our people. This culminated in a hugely successful performance in 2022, which helped Ramboll earn the prestigious Best Large UK Consultancy Award.
Securing the Best Innovation and Technology Project award was the work being undertaken on modular bridges and digital design by Ramboll, Laing O’Rourke and industry partners. Together we’re transforming how we deliver bridges, ultimately benefitting our industry’s productivity, safety and carbon emission reduction.
The Fest Hub, established and driven by Ramboll engineer Emmanuel Afolabi won the Social Value Project award. This unique initiative brings together football, education and STEM for young people from disadvantaged communities to raise awareness among aspiring footballers of possible careers outside the game within STEM and construction.
A career spanning 40 years and delivering many iconic, high-quality bridges across the UK and internationally, earned Peter Curran the inaugural Lifetime Achievement award. The accolade recognises his contribution to world firsts and innovations, most notably the RIBA 2002 Stirling Prize winning Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Queensferry Crossing (the UK’s highest cable-stayed bridge), and multi award-winning Jackfield Bridge, in the Ironbridge Gorge UNESCO world heritage site. Peter has shaped these and many other modern landmarks to ensure that they not only efficiently serve their purpose to connect people and create prosperity but remain mindful of their place and environmentally considerate of their locations.
And finally, our two highly commended entries; the first for Best Sustainability Project for Ramboll’s work on National Highways’ Environmental Sustainability Strategy, which sets out the company’s long-term approach to managing their network in a more sustainable way. And Alex Craddock recognised for his expertise in identifying further opportunities for embodied carbon reduction, mentorship of others and contribution to society having worked alongside colleagues in Rwanda to construct a new footbridge as part of the Bridges to Prosperity programme.
Congratulations to all the winners on the night.
