Shuo Yu has five years of experience in human health and ecological risk assessment, as well as product safety assessment, for a variety of chemical substances in environmental media or consumer products. She has conducted human health and ecological risk activities for public and private clients throughout the US and abroad, including screening-level risk evaluations, toxicity assessment, multi-pathway exposure and risk assessments, biomonitoring data analysis and modeling, bioavailability and bioaccumulation analysis, fate and transport modeling, ecotoxicology, risk-based benchmarks for various human populations or ecological receptors, and chemical fingerprinting/source identification. Shuo has derived site-specific toxicity reference values (TRVs) for ecological receptors, and constructed species sensitivity distributions. She has provided litigation support to clients, and conducted wildlife food web modeling, literature and peer reviews, and database management. Shuo has also provided technical assistance and detailed toxicological evaluations of various consumer products in support of pre-market approvals and regulation compliance. She has characterized chemical exposure and safety from consumer products, food, food processing and packaging, and household items in support of submissions for pre-manufacturing and pre-market approvals, and projects that comply with California/USEPA Proposition 65 and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations. Shuo earned an MS in soil environmental chemistry—and a PhD in environmental toxicology—from The Ohio State University.
