Meera Cush

Dr. Meera Cush is a qualified toxicologist with extensive experience in cosmetic, food, and consumer product safety assessment and regulatory compliance. She has over 16 years' experience in human health toxicological risk assessment and regulatory compliance of chemicals found in the environment, industry, and consumer products and over 20 years' experience in toxicology. Meera holds a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry (Wye College – University of London), MSc in Toxicology (University of Surrey) and PhD in Molecular Toxicology (University of Surrey). Meera leads diverse international teams initiating, designing and delivering on research and innovation projects with extensive experience in interpreting and advising on complex risk assessment scenarios for novel and innovative substances, writing safety/toxicological dossiers, devising responsible product development/product stewardship strategies, mitigating risk and communicating this to stakeholders. Meera is experienced in monitoring toxicological studies (in vivo and in vitro pre-clinical) and interpreting data from toxicological studies for REACH, Biocides, and Food Regulations. She has also worked for Public Health England providing human health risk assessment of chemicals in water, air, waste and land for various government agencies. She is appointed as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Surrey delivering lectures on food carcinogenicity. Meera currently sits as an Expert Member of the UK Committee on Carcinogenicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment who advise the government and government agencies on whether substances are likely to cause cancer. Additionally, Meera is a Chartered Biologist, on the UK Register of Toxicologists and is EUROTOX Registered.
