Dr. Matthew Longnecker has 40 years’ experience in medicine and epidemiology; in the last 20 years he has specialized in environmental epidemiology, and in the last 10 years has focused on perfluoroalkyl substances. He was a career Medical Research Officer (and a Captain in the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service) and Tenured Senior Investigator in the Epidemiology Branch of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), one of the US National Institutes of Health. Matthew has an MD from Dartmouth Medical School, an ScD in Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health, and serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served as an editor and published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers in medical and scientific journals.
