Transport

Mobility and transport is essential for the development of any modern society. With people and goods crossing borders every day, globalisation has increased the importance of efficient and sustainable means of transportation. We help national transport administrations, private contractors, and municipalities with the design, construction and maintenance of transport projects.

Stepping up transportation

One of the clear outcomes of globalisation is the demand for easy exchange of goods and manpower across the globe. This has meant an increased focus on the establishment, refurbishment and maintenance of roads, railports and airports. Upgrading of cross-national transportation networks have also become a priority. For instance within the EU, several projects to improve the transport infrastructure system are carried out, and bridges and tunnels are used to connect communities.

Another trend calling for increased focus on transport is that the number of people living in cities now exceeds the number of people living in the countryside. This means that everywhere, more and more cities will be crowded with people, and big cities will have to face the challenge of improving city infrastructure to avoid a complete standstill of traffic. One answer is of course a functional and attractive public transport system. Functionality and attractiveness of the means of travel itself are important, but this also matters at the transport nodal points: passenger terminals in public transport need to be efficient and comfortable at the same time.
