Broadcast infrastructures

The broadcast infrastructures have been established years ago in most countries. As legislation within telecommunications has been gradually relaxed, a number of new radio and TV technologies have been launched. This, in combination with the general expansion of broadcasting, calls for validation, updating, and expansion of the broadcast networks.

Digital Terrestrial Television

It is a challenging task to implement Digital Terrestrial Television to the interface of 40 years old existing masts. This task requires expert engineering skills and an experienced mounting team for a successful chopper placement of the new antennas. Twenty antennas - all sixteen meters high - are mounted over a period of two years up to July 2008 in order to realise the political decision of changing to digital television in Norway.

Monitoring the condition of telecoms infrastructure

Due to rapid developments in the Indian telecoms market, there is now a great demand to fully utilise the existing telecoms infrastructure. This has led to an increase in the sharing of tower infrastructure by different telecoms companies. The associated proliferation in site tenancies has resulted in the installation of additional electrical and electronic equipment.

Our reputation as the global leader within the field of telecoms towers and masts is very important to our customers.  There must also be a real commitment to staying ahead in this field – Ramboll is therefore heavily involved in international standardisation, and chairs the only global expert group on masts and towers (IASS Working Group for Masts and Towers). We are also developing technical software for the analysis and design of towers and masts, and are able to work with some of the most advanced systems in the world.
