Rethinking energy supply
The growing scarcity of fossil fuels needs to be addressed with intelligent, future-proof strategies and extensive research into renewable energy. In the long run, securing energy supplies will be possible only with a broad range of measures such as wind energy, solar energy, bio energy and waste-to-energy.
Despite the searching for alternatives, fossile fuels still account for 80% of the energy consumed worldwide. Until we have sufficient alternatives in place, specialised expertise is required to retrieve oil and gas from deep underground. Innovative technologies limiting the environmental impact and increasing efficiency of energy production are essential.
