Ramboll was awarded a FEED study for Balticconnector - an offshore 20” gas transportation pipeline of approximately 81 km (50 miles) in the Gulf of Finland aiming at interconnecting the Finnish and Estonian natural gas distribution networks.
In 2010 Qatar Petroleum initiated a major life time extension programme in the Dukhan field 95 km west of the capital Doha in Qatar. Ramboll was awarded the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study for the cathodic protection and off plot power supply for more than 600 oil, gas, and water wells.
The natural gas pipeline project in the Baltic Sea - the so-called Balticconnector - is now being realised. Ramboll carried out feasibility studies for this large-scale EU funded project and has been appointed technical project management consultant and engineering consultant for the project. The Balticconnector is a 100-150km offshore pipeline linking the gas networks of Finland and Estonia.
The Hejre field development project in the north-western part of the Danish sector of the North Sea will be one of the largest Danish investments in offshore oil and gas production for many years to come. Ramboll has been involved in the project for a number of years.
As part of the Sleipner SPORT development project, satellite platform Gudrun was tied-in to Sleipner, for oil and gas processing and export. Statoil awarded Ramboll the FEED and detailed engineering of the subsea pipeline system.
As part of the development of the Sleipner area, Statoil planned to utilise existing process and export facilities for production from satellite platforms. Statoil selected Ramboll to perform FEED and detailed engineering of subsea pipelines to the satellite field, Gina Krog.
FPSO Teekay Petrojarl I was operating on the Glitne Field for Statoil, and was planned to operate for another five years there. In turn, the owner of the FPSO, Teekay Petrojarl Production, was evaluating to extend the lifetime of the FPSO with 15 years.
The Polarled pipeline project is part of the plans for developing fields further north in the Norwegian Sea.
After more than 30 years of operation, the Norsea Gas Terminal in Emden, Germany, needed to be refurbished to maintain safe and reliable gas transportation. The major scope of work included new receiving-, gas heating-, utilities- and process facilities. Ramboll carried out the FEED study proposing the technical solution.
The national gas markets in Europe are changing rapidly. Continuous liberalisation, dependency on gas imports from outside the EU, and increasing consumer demand have stepped up the need for strategic as well as commercial storage facilities. Ramboll has been deeply involved in these developments since the 1990s and in 2008 we assisted Etzel-Kavernenbetriebsgesellschaft mbH & CO. KG with the development of the Etzel salt cavern storage facility near Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
In the summer of 2011 Ramboll won the detailed design of the offshore substation for DONG Energy's Westermost Rough Offshore Wind Farm in the UK. The wind farm is estimated to make a significant contribution to the UK government goal of installing 33GW of wind production by 2020. The contract with DONG Energy included the conceptual and detailed design of the entire substation, covering both jacket and complete topside design.
Georgia has experienced a pressing desire to build an Underground Gas Storage (UGS) for the sake of security of natural gas supply within the country of Georgia. An underground gas storage offers the ability to accommodate seasonal and short-term fluctuations in the demand for natural gas.
Ramboll has acted as steady engineering consultant to Maersk Oil on their Danish offshore oil field, Halfdan, since 1999. Ramboll’s involvement started with early field development work and has continued through the years with ongoing brownfield work.
