Statoil will soon be supplying their customers with oil and gas from the Tyrihans field on the Norwegian continental shelf. In 2006 Ramboll Oil & Gas commenced a detailed design project for the new pipelines and subsea structures on Tyrihans.

Challenging conditions

The field is being developed with four subsea production templates to be connected with the existing Åsgaard B field for gas injection and then piped to the Kristin platform for processing of produced oil. The high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) pipelines will rest in a highly irregular seabed at water depths of 320 metres.

The difficult topographical conditions represented an interesting technical challenge for our team of engineers. By utilising our in-house design analysis package Goliat, we were able to calibrate the pipeline's free span and optimise construction accordingly.

From pre-engineering to detailed design

Ramboll Oil & Gas has also been involved in the pre-engineering phase of the project in 2004-2005, supplying design of flowlines, cables and umbilical. Tyrihans is slated to come on stream in 2009.
