Ramboll assisted Saudi Aramco with the replacement of 17 tower cranes located at offshore installations in the Marjan and Zuluf fields.
Replacing cranes at mature oil fields
Saudi Aramco is the state-owned oil company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the operator of the Marjan and Zuluf fields off the Saudi cost. The offshore platforms are furnished with cranes dating back to the 1970’s. The cranes needed to be replaced to ensure continued safe and secure operations.
Scope of work
Ramboll was subcontracted by EPC contract holder, Worley Parsons, to run the crane replacement project. Ramboll finalized specifications and standards and evaluated the technical documents for procurement of the cranes. Moreover, Ramboll’s scope included:
- Test and inspection procedures for FAT and SAT Check list for fabrication
- review technical bids
- qualify the selected vendor(s)
- approve the accompanying documents
