The Banyu Urip project involves the development of the major, Indonesian onshore oil field, Banyu Urip, operated by ExxonMobil's Mobil Cepu Ltd. The field is estimated to contain approximately 450 million barrels of oil.

Contributing to major field development project in Indonesia

Early oil production commenced in 2009, and Exterran - a global provider of full-service natural gas compression - sub-contracted Ramboll (then Excel Engineering) to do the engineering design for an early production facility at Banyu Urip.

Engineering for upstream sour gas and oil production facility

The SOW comprised engineering and design of foundations, interconnecting piping, electrical and instrumentation for an upstream sour gas and oil production facility. This well stream separation facility included 20,000 BOPD of crude processing and pumping, 12 MMSCD of gas treating and injection and 4000 BPD of produced water treating and injection. This included VRU, low and high pressure compression systems for high levels of sour gas (H2S and CO2).

Noise study and noise mitigation measures

As the facility is located close to several villages, an extensive noise study and noise mitigation measures were required. The foundations were designed for Seismic Zone 2 service.

Banyu Urip full field development

Full field development of Banyu Urip is planned to produce 165,000 barrels of oil per day from facilities that include 49 wells, a central processing facility, and a 60 mile (95 kilometer) pipeline to transfer the processed oil to a 1.7 million barrel floating storage and offloading (FSO) unit in the Java Sea.
