Ramboll assisted in the procurement of a new wood-chip fired biomass power plant designed to receive, handle and incinerate 55,000 tonnes of biomass per annum.
Ramboll was appointed by Fusine Energia S.r.l. and HOLCIM Italia to act as their consultant in connection with the procurement of a wood-chip fired biomass power plant in Fusine, Lombardia, Italy.
The site is located three hours from Milan close to Sondrio in the city of Fusine. The project comprises installation of a new biomass power plant in an existing void building at the site. The plant is designed to receive, handle and incinerate approx. 55,000 tonnes per annum of biomass, primarily in the form of wood-chips but possibly also with some sawdust (compressed).
The net electricity sale to the nearby grid connection is expected to be 5.7 MW based on a thermal input of 24 MW. The excess heat will be cooled in a cooling tower. The plant will be designed, procured and built by the Italian contractor ATI Demont-Gesco.
In 2006 the client obtained permission to build and operate the plant in accordance with the above overall parameters, and the client has procured an Environmental Statement, prepared by ERM and finalized in November 2006.
Ramboll assisted the client with the following phases of the project:
- Tendering and tender evaluation
- Contract negotiations
- Planning and procurement
- Project management
