Urban Mediaspace Aarhus - Groundbreaking harbour and city environment with innovative multimedia centre

Aarhus, Denmark ¤

Urban Mediaspace Aarhus is the largest construction project in the history of the Municipality of Aarhus. The project transforms the industrial port environment into a new and lively city environment, creating a dynamic correlation between the city and the waterfront. The comprehensive project includes an innovative Mediaspace which will become Denmark's largest library and an international trendsetter for future library environments.

With its central location on the waterfront, Urban Mediaspace Aarhus will become a future icon for Aarhus as a knowledge city and a centre for traffic to the new, central city environment. In connection with the project a bastion in the harbour will be built in an integrated solution with Europe's largest and most innovative full-automatic parking facility with 1000 spaces, light rail station, traffic corridors for trains, cars, bicycles, pedestrians, climate protection of the entire city centre etc.

Ramboll is the general client consultant with the responsibility for the entire process in the building of Urban Mediaspace Aarhus as well as solutions of the complex traffic conditions. Ramboll's services include the completion of an international dialogue-based architecture competition, process management, general management of economy and quality, handling of contract procurement and communication planning.
