Experienced Signaling and Interlocking Engineers for Ramboll’s Signaling Department in Copenhagen

Job Description

Experienced Signaling and Interlocking Engineers for Ramboll’s Signaling Department in Copenhagen

Would you like to participate in Europe’s largest replacement of a countrywide signaling system? Or would you like to participate in one of our other large projects? Then you might be one of our new colleagues in our successful signaling department. Ramboll is involved in many large and interesting rail projects. We seek a number of new colleagues with an aspiration to contribute and support our continued growth. Ramboll works with the new pan-European concepts for train control systems (ERTMS/ETCS) as well as more conventional signaling technologies. We are consultants on the following projects:

  • The Signaling Programme – replacement of all signaling systems on the Danish rail network to new modern ERTMS technology. One of Europe’s largest signaling projects, running over 10 years.
  • ERTMS and signaling projects in the Nordic countries, including large and complex signaling projects. We are among the leading consultants within ERTMS/ETCS signaling systems, capacity analysis as well as project risk and safety management in the Nordics.
  • Signaling/interlocking systems and RAMS assignments – with focus on relay based signaling systems, fully electronic systems, ERTMS Level 2/ETCS systems and signaling systems to modern metro and light rail transport systems
  • Multidisciplinary rail projects, e.g. the fixed link across the Fehmarn Belt and Fehmarn-Ringsted
  • Metro Cityringen - a 100 % underground system consisting of 2 parallel tunnels of 16 km each
  • Light Rail Ring 3 in Copenhagen, the largest Light Rail project in the Nordics
  • New railway connection across Vejle Fjord and other major multidisciplinary railway projects in Denmark and internationally

Job Description
As signaling engineer in Ramboll you will participate in our rail projects from the early studies to detailed design and commissioning. The assignments are carried out in close cooperation with our traffic, capacity, migration and stage planning experts using Open Track and Rail-Sys as IT tools for simulation of new time tables, possible changes to the infrastructure, etc.

Your primary work tasks may include project management, planning and design and signalling, tracks and interlocking systems, remote control centres including IT systems, or related to roll outs, and planning of tests, commissioning, safety or approval by the authorities. Depending on your competences, you will have the option to work as design engineer or on projects within construction management and site supervision, tests and commissioning. Within project management, there are possibilities for working as project manager on minor as well as major projects. You will thus play a central part in the upgrading and extension of the Danish and foreign railway network.

Your Qualification
You possess an engineering degree or similar technical background and have minimum 3 years of experience. Preferably, you have experience as consultant, contractor, supplier or infrastructure owner within signaling and interlocking. Perhaps you have practical experience with signaling or interlocking systems or alternatively you may have experience with complex electrotechnical systems, power, requirements specifications, IT, telecom or automation systems.

You are responsible, client focused and systematic. You are fluent in written and spoken English. You are eager to be where the action is. It is important that you are able to understand complex contexts and have a drive that makes you work proactively, solving your assignments with a high level of quality and meeting deadlines. You have a positive perspective on life and appreciate working in an informal working environment, where you have a great influence on your own working day.

Join our Team
You will be part of a professional, strong and committed Nordic Rail business community with 400 people, including a strong signaling environment with more than 120 traffic and signaling engineers keeping up to date with the technical developments and debate.

We work with the new common European concepts for train control systems (ERTMS/ETCS) as well as more conventional interlocking systems, providing you with good opportunities to develop within the latest technology as well as the traditional signaling and interlocking disciplines.

Besides the technical disciplines, Ramboll’s key areas also comprise management, consultancy, engineering and process and project management. Further we work within traffic, capacity and safety planning in connection with major projects.

Rail projects are multidisciplinary with interfaces to many parties. Therefore we work with several technical areas in our rail departments and we cooperate with many of Ramboll’s other professional environments. We have assignments in Denmark, the Nordics and the rest of Europe, including all project phases.

Your working place will primarily be in Ramboll’s head office in Copenhagen (Ørestad), but we are open for discussing possibilities of working from one of our other Ramboll offices.
